Design the Future Fund

Design the Future Award for International Students

The "Design the Future" Award for International Students is a new scheme adopted by the Design the Future Fund and launched in 2008. Seeking to cultivate leaders in the global society, the scheme supplies living expenses, travel expenses, and all tuition fees so that particularly outstanding students from abroad (in master's programs and professional degree courses) can devote their time to study and research. The award is possibly the most generous scholarship of its kind in Japan, surpassing even the Japanese Government Scholarship program.

Eligibility

  • International students enrolled in a master's program or professional degree course at Keio University (students entering the doctoral program of the School of Medicine are also eligible)

Number of awards

  • Approximately 5 per year

Amount awarded

  • Maximum of 9 million yen
  • Exemption from tuition and fees (enrollment fees, school expenses, facilities and equipment expenses, laboratory expenses, etc.)
  • Monthly stipend of 200,000 yen to cover living expenses
  • Lump sum travel subsidy of 150,000yen (covers preparation for study abroad)

Award duration:

  • 2 years
